Now retired, after being actively employed for over 37 years in the computer industry. Swapping yarns about the early days of vacuum tubes and mechanical accounting machines is fun but irrelevant. Autocoder, assembler, even PL/1 and Cobol, are only historical footnotes.
Even this processor on my desk is far more powerful than many of the huge mainframes with which I was involved in those earlier years.
But I'm fortunate. Computers are still interesting as a hobby, as a sideline, and sometimes just as a big fun toy. Especially when inclement weather makes the seashore or the garden less inviting.
For those to whom I've already extended the invitation, you're always welcome. The guest suite ready and waiting. Just check before arriving to ensure it isn't already "booked". And don't forget, when the guest suite is ready the accommodation fee is a plant for our yard; your choice, whatever you wish to remind us of you.
(We also wouldn't turn down a trunk or truck load of fire wood).
If anyone prefers, there bed and breakfast establishments nearby. The closest, called "The Beacon", is only a few hundred yards away on the the same road. It's an excellent accommodation on the ocean side. The phone number is 250-335-2695. There are two other Bed and Breakfast spots nearby; the Sea Canary and the Hawthorn House. Check the "All about Denman" link.
I've purposely tried to keep this site simple, with many default options to accommodate the diverse levels of browsers. But already I've drifted into a few embellishments. I'm sure I'll be tempted to add more bells and whistles over time. Please advise me whenever I step over the line of acceptable aesthetics, or exceed the capability of current browsers.
