Please note that these are not Torpedo Boats, but are instead classed as Destroyers

 

DD-006 Hopkins (Hopkins Class)

Laid down by Harlan & Holligsworth,Wilmington on February 2 1899.
Launched April 24 1902 and commissioned September 23 1903.

Hopkins operated out of Norfolk with the Atlantic fleet until December 2, 1907. Transferred to the Pacific for combined fleet exercises Hopkins arrived at San Francisco on May 6 1908. Hopkins joined the Pacific fleet on June 1, 1908 and operated out of San Diego until America's entry into WWI she then operated out of Hampton Roads patrolling the east coast.

Decommissioned at Philadelphia June 20 1919.
Stricken October 2 1919, sold September 7 1920 and broken up for scrap.


DD-007 Hull (Hopkins class)

Laid down by Harlan & Holligsworth,Wilmington on February 22 1899.
Launched June 21 1902 and commissioned May 20 1903.

Hull operated out of Norfolk with the Atlantic fleet until December 2 1907. Transferred to the Pacific for combined fleet exercises Hull arrived at San Francisco on May 6 1908. Hull joined the Pacific fleet on June 1, 1908 and operated out of San Diego until America's entry into WWI. Hull was transferred to Hampton Roads, and patrolled the east coast thruout WWI.

Decommissioned at Philadelphia July 7 1919.
Stricken September 15 1919, sold January 3 1920 and broken up for scrap.


DD-008 Lawrence (Lawrence Class)

Laid down by Fore River, Quincy on April 10 1899.
Launched November 7 1900 and commissioned April 14 1903.

Lawrence operated in the Atlantic along the East coast until she entered Philadelphia and was decommissioned on November 14 1906, then with recommissioning on July 23 1907, Lawrence again operated in the Atlantic until her transfer to the Pacific in June 1908. Lawrence arrived at San Diego April 28 1908 and operated from there until June 1, 1912. During WWI, she patrolled the approaches to the Canal Zone out of Balboa and later operated out of Key West.

Decommissioned at Philadelphia June 20, 1919.
Stricken September 15, 1919, sold January 3, 1920, and broken up for scrap.


DD-013 Stewart (Bainbridge class)

Laid down by Gas Engine, Morris Heights N.Y. on January 24 1900.
Launched May 10 1902 and commissioned December 17 1902.

 

Stewart operated with the Atlantic fleet until going into reserve in 1906. Returned to duty in 1907 and transferred to the Pacific in 1908 and operated along the west coast until America's entry into WWI. From April thru July 1917 Stewart patrolled off the Canal Zone until undergoing repairs at Philadelphia . She escorted convoys along the French coaast during WWI. She returned to Philadelphia on January 3 1919 and was decommissioned there July 9 1919.

Stricken September 15 1919, sold January 3 1920 and broken up for scrap.


DD-014 Truxtun (Truxtun Class)

Laid down by Maryland Steel, Sparrows Pt. Md. on November 13 1899.
Launched August 15 1901 and commissioned September 11 1902.

Truxtun operated in the Atlantic until December 1907. She sailed as escort to the Battleships of The Great White Fleet on the 1st leg of their around the world voyage departing Hampton Roads in December 1907 and arriving in San Francisco in May 1908. Truxtun then joined the Pacific fleet based out of San Diego and patrolled the west coast.

During WWI Truxtun began patrolled the western approaches to the Canal Zone, then was transferred to Hampton Roads and then sailed for the Azores, then patrolled out of Brest. Truxtun was decommissioned at Philadelphia July 18 1919.

Stricken September 15 1919, sold January 3 1920 into the merchant service as banana carrier and later scraped.


DD-015 Whipple (Truxtun Class)

Laid down by Maryland Steel, Sparrows Pt. Md. on November 13 1899.
Launched August 15 1901 and commissioned October 21 1902.

Whipple operated in the Atlantic based out of Norfolk until placed into reserve there on September 5 1905. Recalled into full commission on July 16 1906 and again operated in the Atlantic until December 1907.

She sailed as escort to the Battleships of The Great White Fleet on the 1st leg of their around the world voyage departing Hampton Roads in December 1907 and arriving in San Francisco in May 1908. Whipple then joined the Pacific fleet based out of San Diego and patrolled the west coast until 1917. During WWI, she patrolled the western approach to the Canal Zone, then was transferred to Hampton Roads, the Azores and finally operated out of Brest, France, escorting convoys. She returned to Philadelphia on January 3 1919 and was decommissioned on July 7 1919.

Stricken September 15 1919, sold January 3, 1920, into the merchant
service as banana carrier and not scraped until 1956.
