"HARVARD! The North American Trainers in Canada" by David C. Fletcher & Doug MacPhail (San Josef, B.C., Canada, 1990, ISBN 0-9693825-0-2) is primarily about Canadian construction and use, although there is also early history of the series included. It is the only clear, properly researched source of the differences between the major variants.
This is the best balanced book on the Harvard (I am into history, modelling and am a licenced pilot) as I designed the book I wanted to buy - not what some art director thought I would buy! It is properly researched, authoritative, including seven pages of plans, seven colour profiles and more than 400 photographs. There are 14 chapters covering the seven different versions used in Canada (complemented by the plans and profiles), wartime and postwar use, Naval use in Canada, film "stardom", aerobatic teams, civilian use and pilot's reminiscences. There are appendices giving capsule histories of all 2000+ aircraft. I will admit that the emphasis is largely Canadian, but people interested in the Harvard from around the world have been happy with it; I have sold books in Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany, in addition to the "English-speaking world" of Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Unfortunately, business is too small to justify accepting credit cards, so cheques (checks y'all) or money orders made out to "Carol D. Fletcher" are recommended.
