C-FPHX was built in 1963 and was one of the last of the Colts (construction number 22-9673 - a lot had been built after CF-HTB!). It was delivered originally to
Calgary Flying Club.
We obtained the aircraft in July of 2004 in a partnership arrangement with a previous owner - who had parted with the same aircraft ten years before! In the intervening years, the aircraft had been upgraded with a Lycoming O-290D-2 in place of the original O-235. The extra 27 horsepower is very welcome.
C-FPHX is a pleasant flying machine and is equipped for night and cross-country flying, for which the Volmer really isn't suitable.
Our younger son, Malcolm has taken to the aircraft and hopes it will eventually end up in his name. A shot of him side-slipping into Courtenay Airpark follows.
