Summerhill's Summer Breeze

[Sunshine]

Sunshine was officially "Summerhill Summer Breeze". She was an exuberant character who, despite her smaller size than Kara, carried her 60 pounds (27.25Kg) with energetic enthusiasm. She was born in December, 1996, and came to us in February, 1997, from a broken home. She was our "foster dog" for eight months before the legal niceties could be implemented and she became officially ours. She was an 'outside dog' when she arrived, but she quickly became the most settled of house pets. She would sit for hours with a head cocked on a convenient human knee and with her tongue lolling out the side of her mouth. Sunshine was a 'volunteer' at the local Abbeyfield House, a seniors' residence. She matured at about the age of four, but she went on strike for her trials to be a certified St.John Ambulance Therapy Dog. Sunshine succumbed to cancer on 21 January, 2003 and is sorely missed.
