What is a CAP Site?
Community Access Programs (CAP) have been set up in communities across Canada through funding from Industry Canada, a department of the federal government. These CAP sites provide free Internet access to the public. CAP sites are located in public libraries, other public buildings, and - in several cases in BC - in community schools. In the Comox Valley, several CAP sites operate under the "umbrella" of Valleylinks, which helps to provides equipment, technical support, and often some staffing through job training programs. The Denman Island CAP Site has several computers, resource information and volunteer or staff support to help you:
- learn to use the computers
- learn to search the Internet and use Email
- search for jobs
- develop specific skills with the software available
